March is National Social Work Month!
Please join Right at Home – Northwest Indiana in celebrating National Social Work Month this March, 2019. This year’s theme is “Elevate Social Work!”
For more than a century, social workers have played a crucial role in improving our society and empowering others to live to their fullest potential.
“My mother, Carole Dougherty, was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Northwest Indiana for decades,” said Right at Home Owner, Marc Sokol. “Growing up, I saw firsthand how social workers like my mom had a positive impact in our communities.”
You can find social workers just about anywhere in our society. They are helping people in our hospitals, our rehabs, our schools, our clinics, our mental health centers, and many other places. You can always find social workers advocating for the benefit of others.
“Our local social workers have been invaluable in helping us achieve our mission, which is to improve the quality of life for those we serve,” said Melissa DeSutter, Right at Home - Northwest Indiana’s Community Relations Manager. “For example, whenever we have a client who is discharging from a facility like a hospital or rehab, we always make it a point to check in with their social workers to get the benefit of their expertise.”
“My mom helped my wife Kristin and I get our local franchise of Right at Home started several years ago as a family-run business, so it seems particularly fitting for us to celebrate the wonderful work that social workers do during Social Work Month this year,” said Sokol.
On behalf of everyone at Right at Home, please join us in thanking and celebrating social workers for all of the incredible work they do!
This brief 2019 Social Work Month PSA educates the public about the invaluable contributions of social workers everywhere.
