Right at Home Supports CMSA Expansion into Northwest Indiana

Right at Home is proud to announce that it is collaborating with other local service providers to support the expansion of the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) in Chicago to Northwest Indiana. CMSA is a professional membership organization dedicated to supporting members of the case management community through educational forums, networking opportunities, and legislative involvement. Although CMSA has nearly 75 chapters throughout the United States and beyond, it did not have a presence in Northwest Indiana until earlier this year.
That changed when Right at Home’s Community Relations Manager, Melissa DeSutter, joined forces with other local professionals to create a planning committee to bring a CMSA presence to our community. The committee, of which DeSutter serves as co-Chair, successfully planned the first Indiana meeting of CMSA Chicago/NWI, an extension of CMSA Chicago. It’s inaugural meeting, which included opportunities for continuing education credits, was held in Merrillville in October.
“We believe that a local CMSA presence will be a terrific resource to all of the case managers, social workers, discharge planners, and nurses in our community who share our mission of improving the quality of life for those we serve,” said Right at Home Owner Marc Sokol. “We are so proud to have Melissa involved in helping to make this a reality.”
When asked what inspired her to become a part of bringing CMSA to Northwest Indiana, DeSutter replied, “CMSA is a natural fit for us and our community because the professionals in this group are doing the same thing we do every day—helping people find solutions in the complex setting between home and health care.”
CMSA’s members represent the continuum of the health care industry, including acute care, managed care, worker's compensation, community care, and providers of support services for patients, clients, and members.
The vision to expand CMSA membership into the local community has been something CMSA Chicago President Colleen Morley has hoped to see for many years. To make this vision come to fruition, however, she needed local community support, which Right at Home’s DeSutter and her peers have help provide.
“As we all know, our goals of excellent patient-centered care and outcomes cannot be accomplished in a vacuum,” CMSA Chicago President Colleen Morley said. “CMSA Chicago/NWI strives to eliminate the silos and promote connection to achieve those goals and we are so thrilled to be able to expand our reach into the NWI area.”
